VASA Is In Blistering Company For The ’50-50′ Remix [Song Review]

Rising act VASA has teamed up with Bella Shmurda for the remix to ’50-50′, doubling down on his promising start to 2024.

The remix was released on the 16th of February, 2024, exactly a month after the original’s arrival.

Bella Shmurda’s appearance comes on the backdrop of a string of stellar feature appearances in 2023 and 2024. Notably, he graced ODUMODUBLVCK’s ‘DOG EAT DOG II’, Ladipoe’s ‘Guy Man’, Mohbad’s ‘Pariwo’ and Vector’s ‘If They Are Real’.

On a sonic level, Bella Shmurda is a fitting choice for the remix. He meshes well with the lo-fi Amapiano terrain, wapping out the upbeat original first verse for his laidback perspective on the grind. He sings, ‘50-50‘/’For this life, no pity‘/’Everyday ni mo wa l’ori titi‘/’And I dey hustle hard ‘cos na me dey for me‘. His vulnerability continues with the lines, ‘And I dey worry, worrry, worry sometimes‘/’Cause I be human and I need some time‘. Shmurda’s verse is a full circle moment, coming a long way from his stellar turn on Olamide’s 2020 track, ‘Triumphant’.

For VASA, the remix builds on the original track’s momentum fueled by cosigns. It also partly delivers on an earlier promise of a major collaboration. Without a doubt, there is more to come from the artiste as the year unfolds.
