Born in Lagos and raised in Port Harcourt, Swayvee’s journey into music was initially rooted in informal rap battles under the alias “Fatal Emcee.” His stage name, Swayvee, pays homage to Tory Lanez’s “Swavey,” symbolizing a lifestyle and musical style that merges rap with singing.
Swayvee’s professional debut in 2018 was sparked by a personal relationship, leading to his signing with Etins Records. Despite starting with freestyles on Audiomack and a burgeoning fanbase called “Shhtars,” his first official project, “Wild,” featuring Yarden, marked his entry into the mainstream. Following this, he explored his creative range with “The Lost Files” EP.
2023 proved a pivotal year for Swayvee, with the release of the Afro drill single “Para” and collaborations across various projects, including contributions to Yarden’s, Harshterg’s and Pressplay’s debut projects. Swayvee recently released a two-pack single, “Position/ Over you” as he gears up for the birth of his debut EP “Perswaysion”,
Swayvee’s latest two-pack single, featuring “Position” and “Over You,” presents a dynamic exploration of his musical evolution. In “Position,” Swayvee taps into a rhythmic fusion of Afrobeat and melodic rap, creating a track that effortlessly blends infectious beats with his distinctive vocal delivery. The song’s vibrant energy and smooth transitions showcase his growth as an artist while maintaining the streetwise edge that defined his earlier work. With a compelling hook and polished production, “Position” solidifies Swayvee’s ability to craft catchy tunes.
“Over You” takes a nostalgic directory by interpolating Wizkid’s 2011 hit “Wiz Party,”. This clever reimagining breathes new life into the nostalgic tune, bridging the gap between past and present with a fresh, melodic twist. Swayvee’s reinterpretation not only pays homage to Wizkid’s influence but also demonstrates his skill in seamlessly integrating familiar elements into his unique soundscape. The track’s melody creates a compelling contrast to the original, showcasing Swayvee’s ability to blend reverence for past hits with his contemporary flair.
Swayvee’s blend of spirituality, extraterrestrial themes, and artistic innovation promises to further solidify his place in the music landscape. In “Position” and “Over You,” Swayvee masterfully merges his artistry with a refined delivery, presenting a two-pack single that both honors musical heritage and charts new territory
