Budding Afrobeats singer and song-writer, Billiana popularly known for his adept fusion of contagious melodies and profound storytelling is back with a brand new project titled, Unsaid Feelings.
The EP is Billiana’s most personal body of work yet and it explores deep-seated emotions that people tend to ignore and generally struggle to express due to their volatility. The EP chronicles tales of love, desire, heartbreak and healing.
AlbumTalks’ sat down with Billiana for a chat and got around to picking his mind and inspiration behind his new project.
1. What’s the story behind the name, Billiana?
Billiana is more than a stage name to me, it’s an identity I’ve grown into. Over time, I wanted a name that felt distinct and memorable, but also one that could represent every side of my artistry. Today, when people hear Billiana, I want them to think of honest music, strong storytelling, and records that stay with them long after they’ve ended.
2. How did you fall in love with music? Was it something from your background or something you picked up later in life?
Music has always been around me, but it became personal when I realized it was the easiest way for me to express thoughts and emotions that were difficult to put into conversations. What started as curiosity gradually became purpose. The more I wrote and recorded, the more I understood that this wasn’t just a hobby, it was how I connected with people.
3. You’ve been making music professionally for more than two years, but you’ve been doing it much longer. What moment convinced you this was your path?
There wasn’t one single moment. It was a series of moments; people relating to my songs, messages from listeners who connected with my lyrics, and seeing complete strangers sing back words that came from my own experiences. Those moments reminded me that music can create genuine connections, and that’s what convinced me to keep going.
4. The title Unsaid Feelings suggests emotions that haven’t been expressed. Is music your safe space?
Absolutely. Music gives me the freedom to express things I might not always say in everyday life. Some conversations are difficult to have, but songs create space for honesty without limitations. Unsaid Feelings is built around those emotions we often carry quietly; whether it’s love, pain, hope, or uncertainty
5. What inspired the direction of your debut EP?
I wanted to create a project that felt cohesive and genuine. Instead of chasing trends, I focused on telling real stories and capturing different emotions that people experience but don’t always talk about. Every song represents a different perspective, but together they tell one complete story.
6. What’s your creative process in the studio? Spontaneous or planned?
It’s a balance of both. I usually come into the studio with an idea or emotion I want to explore.
7. Through “Steadily Ready” and “Resonate,” you’ve already shown different sides of yourself. Singing about stunting on his detractors and then proving his love to a love interest. Should listeners expect more variety on the EP?
Definitely. Those two records only introduce different sides of the project. Unsaid Feelings explores a wider emotional range, and each song has its own identity while still fitting into the overall story. I wanted listeners to experience different moods without losing the thread that connects the project.
8. How do you deal with writer’s block?
I don’t force creativity. When ideas aren’t flowing, I step away for a while and experience life. Conversations, memories, and everyday moments often become the inspiration for new musi
9. Which artists inspire you, and who would you love to collaborate with one day?
I’m inspired by artists who make music that feels timeless and emotionally honest. As for collaborations, there are several artists I’d love to work with when the timing is right.
10. What’s next for Billiana after Unsaid Feelings?
Right now, my focus is on giving this project the attention it deserves. Beyond the release, I want to perform these songs, connect with listeners in more cities, and continue building a catalogue that reflects my growth as an artist. Unsaid Feelings is an introduction, not the destination.
