Abimbola Olamide Ekeolere, professionally known as Abi_Vibe, lets melody, percussion and horns carry the emotional weight of the three-track instrumental EP “Sensational.” The easiest way to understand Abi_Vibe’s “Sensational” is to treat the instruments like voices.
Across three tracks, the piano reassures, the trumpets announce themselves and the drums dictate how quickly everything around them should move. There are no vocals carrying these songs, but the project is hardly silent.
“Get To You” begins with restraint. Soft piano chords sit over light percussion and drums, creating a warm jazz atmosphere. The arrangement gradually becomes more optimistic, and the piano begins to sound almost conversational. There is sweetness in the melody but also reassurance. It feels hopeful without needing to tell you that it is.
“Steady” is much louder about its intentions. Trumpets, bass and drums enter with immediate energy, while the production carries traces of disco and house. The horns and percussion are equally expressive, yet the song never feels crowded. There is a balance between them that makes the groove feel effortless.
Across the project, each instrument carries its own emotional weight. “Get To You” opens with soft piano chords, light percussion and warm jazz textures, gradually unfolding into something hopeful and reassuring. The piano feels almost conversational, giving the track an intimate quality without the need for vocals.
“Steady” shifts the energy upward, pairing vibrant trumpets, bass and drums with hints of disco and house. Its rhythmic interplay feels lively yet controlled, allowing the horns and percussion to complement rather than compete with each other.
With “Sensational,” Abi_Vibe proves that emotion can speak just as clearly through instrumentation.
“Diligent” takes things into electronic Amapiano territory. The opening piano phrase almost teases the listener before heavy drums transform the record into something much more active. It is easy to imagine the song inside a club set, but equally easy to imagine it soundtracking a run or an intense gym session.
By the end of “Sensational,” Abi_Vibe has covered relaxation, optimism and movement without saying a word. The melodies spoke for themselves.
