Nigerian artist Maureen Adenike Okoye, known professionally as Nikz, explores warmth, movement, and reassurance on her three-track EP, “MARS.”

The project leans into expressive instrumentation, blending guitars, percussion, piano, horns, and Amapiano textures into a sound that feels both vibrant and intimate.
“Spot” opens the EP with a bright, celebratory groove, pairing playful melodies with a sense of forward motion. “Rora” takes things deeper, layering heavy bass and Amapiano percussion with piano, expressive trumpets, and guitar, creating one of the project’s richest arrangements.
Across “MARS,” Nikz allows the instruments to interact naturally rather than overwhelming the listener with unnecessary elements. The result is a concise project that balances movement with reflection, using melody and texture to communicate emotion.
