Weekly Albums Charts Round-Up: ODUMODUBLVCK, Bnxn, Mohbad & more

Week of October 16 – October 22

Another week has come and gone and in usual tradition, we are committed to updating you on how different albums fared across several charts in the past week. From the Billboard charts to the UK charts and to the streaming platforms.

Billboard World Albums Chart: BNXN Debut & Burna’s Streak Continues

BNXN debuts a new entry on the US Billboard World Albums, with his brand new album, “Sincerely, Benson” at number #11. It’s his second entry on the chart, after his last EP, “Bad Since 97” debuted at #14.

Burna on the other hand, remains in the top 10 with “I Told Them” falling 3 spots down to #6 in its 7th week. Rema’s “Rave & Roses” also went down 2 spots down to #7, after spending 63 weeks on the chart. It remains the 2nd-longest running album on the chart after Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos.”

NG Apple Music – Odumodublvck is #1 For A Second Week

Despite stiff competition from numerous LP’s released the same week it was and even after, Odumodublvck’s new mixtape, “EZIOKWU” holds it spot at #1 for a second week. In the hours after its release, Mayorkun’s “Love For Free” EP peaked at #2 on the NG Apple music chart.

NSG also released their debut album, “Area Boyz” and it has peaked at #5 on the NG Apple Music chart so far. Overall during the week, BNXN’s “Sincerely, Benson” and Burna’s “I Told Them” mantained their #2 and #3 spots respectively. Mohbad’s “Blessed” and Asake’s “Work Of Art” rounded up the rest of the top 5.

Spotify Nigeria

Odumodublvck has joined esteemed company, in becoming the 2nd rapper to debut a project at the top of the weekly Spotify album charts with “EZIOKWU”. Prior to him, Olamide was the only rapper to have done it with “Unruly” earlier this year. BNXN’s “Sincerely, Benson” debuted at #2, whilst Burna’s “I Told Them” saw a drop to #3.

Rema’s “Rave & Roses” has also made history, becoming the first African album to amass up to 1.9 billion streams. Davido’s “Timeless” broke a record of its own, as it’s now become the first 2023 album to spend 30 weeks in the top 10 of the Spotify weekly album chart. Ayra Starr’s “19 & Dangerous” has also surpassed 400m streams on Spotify, and it remains the most streamed album by a Nigerian female act.

Audiomack

On Audiomack Nigeria, Mohbad’s “Blessed” EP continues to hold it down at #1, since it’s re-peak about 5 weeks ago and not budging under the competition of the debut of new projects from BNXN and Odumodublvck. Asake’s “Work Of Art” and Kizz Daniel’s “Maverick” round up the rest of the top 3.

Boomplay

On Boomplay, Asake remains the man to beat. “Work Of Art” has now spent 15 weeks at the top of the Boomplay albums chart. No other album released this year has achieved such feat.

Official UK Albums Chart

In Europe, Burna’s “I Told Them” continues to hold it down despite an influx of albums from heavyweights. In its 8th week, it falls 12 places down to #37. It peaked at #1 in its debut week, becoming the first ever African album to pull that off. There is no saying to how many more weeks it would spend on the chart, as “City Boys” keeps on waxing strong.
