SO$E, born Osesolase David, and dubbed as one of the new generation creatives in the industry currently shifting and raising the bar in terms of consistent quality delivery with an unmatched style. He was unveiled as an Afro R&B act under the flagship of Fact Entertainment late in 2022, SO$E’s debut outing came earlier in January with his single ‘No More‘. SO$E, who initially had a career as a producer and also takes lessons on Sound Engineering, decides to expand the scope of his music career to recording as well and it’s being an interesting journey so far.

Amina‘ is his third record of the year and it features talented rapper and Drill genre expert, Odumodublvck. Unlike his previous release which were richly steeped in Afrobeats, Amina takes a sharp turn from that with its overall Grime/Drill Production. This is definitely SO$E treading uncharted territories considering he is untested in this Hip-Hop sound.

There are certain conditions to meet when an artist taps into a new sound, one of which is his comfort and ability to fit in well on that record to make sure the record is not jarring. On a Grime production, SO$E delivered his verse like a seasoned rapper with a well measured cadence and flow that aligns with the production. Also on hook duties, he was able to flex his incredible hook crafting ability that linked the artists verses well. On a record like this, you expect Odumodublvck to deliver because it is his territory, and he did nothing less and much more than our expectations in a verse that screams quality all over it.

Amina‘ is a great record. The artists did their bits perfectly, and the result is this Hip-Hop essential record. It duly satisfies the condition of a record created to highlight the lead artist’s versatility. The commercial ability is also not in doubt, with Odumodublvck very much rasing it’s appeal. At the time of writing, the song is already SO$E’s most streamed song as an artist.

Not many expect such a sharp turn from the talented SO$E so early in his blossoming career, but in a time where versatility and range are much more appreciated by listeners, it doesn’t seem like a strange move. In fact, it is a bold way of introducing himself to the Hip-Hop fans and the addition of Odumodublvck, who is literally the hot topic of Hip-Hop genre so far this year, it will only speed up things for SO$E. Whether he’s got more in him, we are yearning to know.
