Skales is set to release his new album, “Martina’s Son,” a deeply personal project that pays tribute to his mother and reflects his journey from Kaduna to international acclaim.
The album arrives amid a remarkable resurgence in Skales’ career, sparked by the unexpected virality of his 2015 hit “Shake Body.” The track found new life when Barcelona’s young sensation Lamine Yamal danced to it on TikTok, amassing overnight resurgence into global prominence.
Building on this visibility, Skales also dropped a new track titled “Dance Like Lamine Yamal,” paying homage to the young footballer who helped reignite interest in his earlier hit.
“Martina’s Son” promises to be a heartfelt exploration of Skales’ roots and experiences, blending Afrobeat rhythms with introspective lyrics that honor his mother’s influence on his life and music. The album is scheduled for release on August 6, 2025.
