Saint Kay – born Samson Nkemuka, is a UK-based Nigerian AfroFusion artiste fresh off the release of his debut project titled “Music Rejuvenated“. The project released to digital stores on 30th April, 2022 has been buzzing for quite sometime and the release of the visuals for the well acclaimed track “Ahead Ahead” has aided the hype.

He is fond of blending Pop, R&B and Afrobeats soundscapes. Saint Kay does not deviate from his well oiled formula on his debut project. The project contains 7 songs with just a single feature as Saint Kay looks to make it all about him.

On the intro song ‘See No Evil‘, Saint kay talks about his journey from the bottom to top. Phresh P’s voice creates a top notch chorus aligning with the message Saint Kay aims to pass to the listeners. The energy was right and both artist executed their roles perfecly. ‘Letter to my lover‘ is just as the name implies as Saint Kay begs for the affections of his potential lover.

WATCH: ‘Ahead Ahead’ video

Ahead Ahead‘ is an upbeat street anthem with Saint Kay singing about the criticisms and how he was downplayed at the start of his career. The singer recalls everything and showcases it properly in the track’s visuals, released few weeks ago. The video’s creative direction is the perfect reflection of Saint Kay’s journey. He returns to his lover-boy mode on the R&B influenced ‘What If‘ as he sheds his feeling on a mid-tempo production.

A nightlife-inspired track, ‘D level‘, set on a heavy bass percussion drums is a night out of enjoyment for the artiste and his crew. Saint Kay flexes his songwriting ability and takes control of the track all through without breaking a sweat. ‘Where From‘ switches to the laid back R&B style where he sings about his preference for his lover.

What’s the best track for an outro than an appreciation song. ‘Right Words‘ is exactly that song. “I don’t have the right words to praise your name, but I’ll go all the way to give you the praise”, he sings. Helped by a series of background vocals which makes it better with catchy ad-libs.

If this project was meant to introduce us to his sound and as well attract potential listeners. Saint Kay got it all correct. The project is well executed as the impressive songwriting of the artist is guided by the nearly perfect productions which gives him an edge to utilize his vocals effectively. Whether its on the R&B or Pop inspired tracks, Saint Kay’s performance did not dip. The A&R did a good job of making the project switch perfectly from Pop to R&B in consecutive tracks. The project has a better percentage of songs that would hit home straight for listeners. This is just the start for an artiste with so much of his artistry to reveal to us. In the meantime, Saint Kay’s improvements all over the project is significant. The journey is on.
