The NAACP Image Awards are set to expand their recognition of African talent with 10 new dedicated categories beginning with the 58th edition in 2027.
The new categories will cover achievements across music, film and television, including Outstanding African Album, Outstanding African New Artist and Outstanding African Song.
The film categories will recognize Outstanding African Motion Picture, as well as Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Directing in an African Motion Picture.
Television will also receive dedicated recognition through Outstanding African Television Series, Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress in an African Television Series..
The expansion reflects the growing global impact of African creativity and provides a dedicated platform to celebrate artists and filmmakers from across the continent at one of the most prominent awards honoring Black excellence.
