Popular US-based Afrobeats act, Duncan Daniels has been one of highlights of the Afrobeats scene so far this year. Since the release of his album β€˜Songs Of Limitless Optimismβ€˜ (abbreviated to S.O.L.O) in August. He continues to contribute his own fair share to push boundaries for African music by putting it on major spotlight around the world with his art.

Coming off a few performances and an extended press tours in UK, alongside his recent deal with Sentric Music Publishing. Duncan submitted his recently released sixth studio album titled β€˜S.O.L.O’ for considerations at the world’s most prestigious Grammy Awards.

S.O.L.O is a ten track album (without features) that ponders on love, enjoyment and challenges. The album is submitted in the β€˜Best Global Music Album’ category. It is set to compete with some major names in the continent and beyond for spots in the final nominations list come November.

It would also be important to note a key factor that makes S.O.L.O one worth considering for the 2023 GRAMMYs. S.O.L.O the album is the first full-length afrobeats album to be fully mastered at Abbey Roads Studio, London. The studio is best known to most people for being the creative base for The Beatles.

The nomination lists would soon be released by the Recording Academy and it would be interesting to see how this quality album compares with other projects submitted for considerations too. In recent years, the Nigeiran music indsutry has been represented on similar category by Burna Boy’s β€˜African Giantβ€˜ (2019) and β€˜Twice As Tallβ€˜ (2020) which won the award, Wizkid’s β€˜Made In Lagosβ€˜ (2021), Femi Kuti and Made Kuti’s β€˜Legacy+β€˜ (2021).

We surely do hope to see one of our own there again.
