The 100 million-stream mark was once a sacred, coveted milestone in the Nigerian music scene, a number that signified the highest pinnacle of streaming feats.
Today, that milestone has become increasingly common. More than 60 Nigerian artists now have at least one song above 100 million streams on Spotify, while several have gone even further, crossing the one-billion-stream mark.
At the centre of this expanding 100M+ club is Burna Boy, who leads the pack with 14 songs above 100 million streams. His qualifying records span different eras of his career, from “Ye” and “On The Low” to “Last Last,” “It’s Plenty,” “City Boys” and “Tested, Approved & Trusted.”
Asake follows with 12 songs, an extraordinary tally that reflects the speed and scale of his rise. Omah Lay and Tems share third place with nine songs each, followed by Wizkid with eight and Rema with seven. The next tier features Fireboy DML and Davido, with five songs each, while CKay, Ayra Starr and Kizz Daniel have four apiece.
The ranking counts every artist credited on a qualifying song, including featured artists, giving collaborations their full weight. What was once an elite milestone is now becoming a defining feature of Nigeria’s global streaming era.
And with more artists joining the 100M+ club every year, the question is no longer simply who has crossed 100 million, but who has done it most often; and how much further the biggest names can take it.
