In recent times, the new female artists coming into the music industry have been able to attach some form of uniqueness not only to their aesthetics, but to their sonic style and the overall shape they want their art to take. You need not look back too far to find the physical manifestations of how important the uniqueness of these elements have helped catapulted some female artists into success in their various sizes.

To make a case, Ayra Starr’s Gen Z appearance backed up with her soulful RnB or Pop fusion debut, Tems’ alté-based fashion style plus her refined alt RnB wave and just some few weeks back, Lifesize Teddy’s captivating sonic and brand direction. Similarly, Enaky also follows in similar patterns but with her own self visualized directions which makes her sound and appearance unadulterated.

However, on her debut “Family“, Enaky dives into the harsh realities of relationships especially on themes of betrayal and deceit in her quest for inner peace. Opting for a vibrant production choice that blends enticing and upbeat elements of Afro-Pop with unfiltered alté sonic style, she vents onto us in her own way.

The upbeat nature of the song creates a groovy setting already with it’s heavy bass drums and guitar components. Enaky begins to make her stance known even from her first words with a tight cadence that ensures she is not lost on the bouncy beat. Interestingly, she was able to create a free flow atmosphere which allows her to move easily between her verse and the hook with each phase peaking and declining as she exchanges between them.

I don’t want to find a way to redeem myself / I don’t really want to play sick games, sick games to tangle myself /… If you’re really my brother here, cover, cover, cover me / If you’re not really family don’t undercover it.

It might seem to early to draw out similarities with Tems and Ayra, who are very much female superstars already and no doubt the top female voices out of the country so far this decade, but the early signs to reach top heights are visible. On her official debut, Enaky has shown she has got the fire in her with so much quality to offer and untethered abilities left to tap. It will be interesting to see where she heads next. Although, for what it’s worth, she scored a good one on her debut.
