Slimkidd’s return is a tale of his emotional well-being on “Sentiments” [Review].

Well know as an artist who depicts his reality, struggles and pains through his music, he retains his distinctive quality on his latest offering.

Slimkidd for “Sentiments”.

There are so much promising underground acts currently roaming the industry looking for the right opportunity or trying to create a good song to throw them into the stratosphere of popularity. However, each acts have their distinctive qualities, but what sets Slimkidd apart is his constant tendency to look inwards and around him for inspirations. His music has always been set on relatable non fictional tales expressed through soul stirring production choices.

Slimkidd’s journey as a blossoming Hip-Hop act began as far back as 2017 as he has shifted in sync with the Hip-Hop culture in every form. His latest release – which comes as the artist’s first outing since the release of his debut EP earlier this year – is a soulful “Afro-Trap” song with a danceable rhythm yet a pain undernoted track.

On Sentiments, the emotions and experiences of the artist was captured from his first words as he sings “plenty tears wey my eyes dun see, I seen fear and my heart stop breathing“. Slimkidd narrates the sad reality of life being overwhelming at times while clinging his hope on better days. It’s introspective and soulful perspective immerses the listeners directly into the story the artist is trying to portray making it highly relatable.

As seamless as it is, it will seem quite uncanny to just downplay the efforts of the artists. In a bid to document a certain experience, it’s relatability matters a lot with much skilled execution and perfect choice of words to accompany it. Slimkidd was able to weave his emotions into one piece while doing with style too.

With this single serving as his return since the release of his EP, he picked up where he left off and also with more finesse to it. With the artist already hinting at the beginning of another era in his artistry, it is a solid introduction into his new phase that already looks very interesting with the prospects having a high ceiling. This writer will be seated for what comes next.
