Spotify Explores How Well Loved Ones Know Each Other’s Music Taste in New Campaign

Spotify has launched its “Your Spotify Knows You Best” campaign, exploring how listening habits can reveal another side of a person’s identity and how well friends, partners, and family members understand each other’s music taste.

Announced in Lagos on October 16, 2026, the campaign brought together four creators and their loved ones for a challenge testing how accurately they could identify their favourite artists, songs on repeat, preferred genres, and everyday listening habits.

Among the participants was content creator Demi AK, whose fiancé, Jeremy, rated his knowledge of her a 10 out of 10 before the challenge. Despite correctly predicting some of her preferences, including Taylor Swift, he scored 5 out of 10 after her listening history revealed artists such as Davido, Timbaland, Pitbull, and Bad Bunny.

Tobe Szn’s sister also discovered more about his listening habits, correctly identifying Ayra Starr as his favourite Nigerian non-gospel artist. Meanwhile, Amy’s sister scored 6 out of 10, while Salem’s wife demonstrated her familiarity with his daily routines and musical preferences.

Through the campaign, Spotify highlights how listening histories can reveal personal interests, moods, memories, and routines that even the people closest to us may overlook, showing how music offers a different perspective on the people we know best.
