Tyla secured two major wins at the 2026 American Music Awards, as the only African win last night.

She officially won two awards, for Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year for her hit single “CHANEL.”
The South African star won 2 out of her 4 nominations, continuing her rapid rise as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
In the Best Afrobeats Artist category, Tyla beat heavyweight names including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, and Moliy.
She also triumphed in the Social Song of the Year category, where “CHANEL” came out ahead of songs by PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson, Role Model, and Disco Lines & Tinashe.
