Port Harcourt seems to be the new base of talents in the industry. In recent times, so many artistes from the South-side of the country have caught the eye with their impressive artistic abilities. Some of those artistes are the superstars the country possess in Burna Boy, Omah Lay — and now The B.
The B, born Ebisindo Bibi Ogon is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who caught the eye with her impressive vocals and songwriting ability. The B, who released her debut project titled ‘Right Now’ some days ago is the talent to watch out for. Her debut project, an extended play, is an introduction to her music world. The project which features a slice of acoustic R&B, Pop and Soul music.
‘Right Now‘, the intro and the album title song is a deft blend of soul and pop music as she urges everyone to watch out for her and she acknowledges the supports she receives. We are ushered in to the project with her poignant vocals that easily draws listeners closely. The transition to ‘Resolve Somethings‘ is a perfect pull off. The Saxophone solo at the beginning also deserves a mention. Here, she sings about a relationship that is not productive. The emotions her voice emits helps to convey her message of being fed up in the relationship.
‘Run My Miles‘ could easily be the fan favorite off the EP. The semi-acoustic nature and the little sprinkle of Caribbean elements are top notch. The guitar and vocals complements rightly. ‘Ease Your Mind‘ closes the EP. This is a song that showcases another facet of The B’s artistry with its Pop-ish nature. The guest artiste, aRENYE delivers superbly too.
This seems like the compilation of four perfect songs weaved together with the theme of love and it’s complexities with the aim of introducing fans and new audiences to her art. She displayed her ability to oscillate and adapt between R&B and Pop sound as she likes. The B exudes confidence that is uncommon amongst new artistes, carefully wielding different textures of vocals as required. This is a bold step from her and it can only get better from here. Kudos to The B, this is top notch.
