When T.I Blaze got the much needed verse from Olamide on the remix of his time bomb single ‘Sometimes‘, it was just destiny waiting in its corner to be unleashed. The remix released on just the second day of the year went on to throw him into limelight and immensely helped to kick-start his career properly. It was a life changing collaboration.

To prove that was not a fluke and show the world he is ready for whatever may come, his debut EP titled ‘Fresh Prince of Lagos‘ dropped 53 days later; highlighting his readiness to share his art to the continent and beyond. A 6-track EP that encompasses his struggles, anxiety and his take on Love. The project aged well and got much accolades from some sect of listeners.

He hasn’t showed down anyways since then, regularly jumping on features and releasing his own songs ( lead or co-owned). Out of those few singles came the viral hit ‘Kilo‘ with Skiibii. The single stayed present in charts for weeks and months and is tagged by many listeners as one of the best releases of the year. That is not in doubt because of his stellar performance on the track which is not a new thing.

Six months later, we are served the debut album of this wonderful afrobeat act. Shifted over a couple of times due to reasons best know to the artiste, the album is titled ‘El Major‘. ‘El Major‘, translated from a Spanish dialect means “The Major”. It connotes everything that means higher in rank as well as being notable and respected. The title meaning get its clarity from the album cover where T.I Blaze is clad in the uniform of a Major in the Nigerian army. a perfect fit.

El Major‘ contains 13 tracks including lead singles ‘Kilo‘, ‘Lock Up‘ and ‘My Life‘ and is set to run for 31 minutes. A good strategy so far this year as brevity of albums have earned them a better replay value. The album contains guest appearance from: Fave, Ladipoe, Camidoh, Bella Shmurda and Backroad Gee. Having sprang some few surprises on his debut EP with his delve into Amapiano-tinged ‘Gbedu‘ and R&B assisted ‘Basic‘, this new album also contains its own surprises just as he has stated earlier.

T.I Blaze join the short list of artists to drop their debut albums in the same year they were introduced into the limelight. Some have gone on to fare well in the industry and it would be a mistake to think otherwise about T.I Blaze. The Major is ready. Are you? Now, take a listen.
