Nigerian Popstar Guchi lashes out on record label on her recent Twitter post
Guchi is a budding Nigerian Afro pop star, she made her debut in 2019 with ‘No Be Jazz’ eventually signing a deal with PG records later that year, where she has released multiple singles with them and her debut EP in 2020 titled ‘I am Guchi’. Everything was going well and calm for her until all of a sudden she took to her twitter page to express displeasure in her record label for allegedly delaying the release of a single.
She expressed utmost dissatisfaction on her label letting the business aspect of her music interfere with her God-given passion for her craft, according to her, she stated that; “…Why are there too many processes in something that’s a free gift from God?? Labels should remember, passion led the artist here and shouldn’t let the business side of things override that passion…”
This is just a recent episode of the string of various tussles we have seen between music acts and record labels. With information gathered it was realized that her label wants to shift the release date for a single she want to be out now, to release another single they want, Guchi’s disagreement with this led her to lash out on her Twitter page. Ending the tweet, she sounded a note of warning to her label, stating that she would leak the song she wants, if it is not released.
