The way albums are rated has changed in recent years. One of the main factors that determines an album’s rating is now its certification. Albums that achieve multiple certifications around the world are seen as being more successful.

Just recently, Wizkid’s 2020 album “Made in Lagos” was certified Gold in the United Kingdom after selling over 100,000 album units. This is a significant achievement, as it makes “Made in Lagos” the third certified African album in the UK, along with Burna Boy’s “African Giant” and “Love, Damini”.

“Made in Lagos” was one of the best albums of 2020, and was named as one of the top albums of the year by many magazines. It received another boost in popularity in 2021, when the single “Essence” became a global hit. “Essence” was later featured on a deluxe edition of “Made in Lagos”, which also included a guest appearance from Justin Bieber.
