Lyno Casino makes a statement on debut ‘Out Loud’ [EP Review]

The title of the project could have been influenced by Lyno Casino’s willingness to let the world know she is ready to take center stage.

Fun fact is Lyno Casino never left. She just took time to perfect and polish her art, and now she is back with the sweet sauce which made us dance on her early releases. Lyno Casino, born Cynthia Anthony started her professional career in 2018, and when her debut single ‘Ring On It‘ was released in 2019, so many who got a taste of the music at the time, could only be in awe of the talent she possess. Now, three years more matured and grown in her artistry, she shares with the world her debut project.

On her debut project titled ‘Out Loud‘, Lyno shows off her musical skills and abilities igniting the idea that she has found the perfect mix to her sauce as she aims for the next level. Lyno showcased the different perspectives to which Afro-House can be created as she also drew influences from Afropop, R&B, Highlife and Dancehall.

Lyno Casino’s ‘Out Loud‘ tracks list and credits.

On the project opener, ‘Away‘, the synths and reverbing bass drums create a good atmosphere for Lyno’s serenading vocals to come into play. Lyno requests for her lover’s presence to take her pains away. The production is raw and undiluted. A template for how Afro-House music with R&B sensibilities should be made. The mood changes on ‘Amor‘, it is more upbeat and groovy and the bass drums are more pronounced. The production on this is crispy and Lyno does well enough to deliver excellently. ‘Amor’ is a French word which translates to ‘Love’ . Lyno is simply praising the unique qualities of her lover. On ‘Happy‘, Lyno is still in her lover girl elements; admitting that she gets happy in the presence of her lover. The bass drums are still heavy as usual and less audible underlying guitar riffs.

Dialo‘ follows similar pattern, but Lyno takes center stage on this track, dictating the cadence with her sleek vocals as she continues to put her lover on a high pedestal and showering him with massive praises. When we get to ‘My Life‘ and ‘Baller‘, the theme of Love takes off. Lyno sings on living life and enjoying herself. The flutes that permeates the chorus on Baller is an interesting addition.

All over the tape, one would discover that the creative direction for the project was pre determined and not just a compilation of songs. The aim was clear and they set out to achieve what was planned seamlessly. This tape makes for a more pleasant listening during a time to relax. It just seeps through you unhindered and Lyno’s charming vocals take plaudits for that. Other than the producer tag which I feel should have been taken off in all songs because it disrupts everything, the project is a solid body of work as Lyno reaffirms her status as one of the most impressive budding artists. A solid foundation to build up on for what’s to come next.
