The new executive appointments feature Larry Gaaga, a renowned Nigerian songwriter and recording artist, who will join as the Vice President/General Manager of Africa.

Traditionally, international music labels have predominantly headquartered their African operations in South Africa, with Nigeria often having a smaller presence. gamma, however, is challenging this norm by placing its primary focus on Nigeria, recognizing its status as a leading country in the global music export.

Collectively, these moves underscore the foundation that gamma, along with its digital distribution arm Vydia, has established in the region. It enhances the company’s capabilities and resources while fostering a cultural exchange and creating opportunities for artists worldwide.

Sipho Dlamini, President of Africa and the Middle East at gamma, explained, “gamma’s mission is to nurture local talent from Africa and the Middle East into global superstars, as well as to provide opportunities for Western artists to connect with new fans and markets on the continent. Larry brings the historical knowledge and cultural fluency crucial to building the relationships and resources we need to succeed.”

Larry Gaaga, formerly Vice President of Def Jam Africa, will now oversee gamma’s operations across the entire African continent. His visionary leadership will guide the teams in Nigeria and South Africa, driving growth, development, and success across the region.

Larry Jackson, Co-founder and CEO of gamma, expressed enthusiasm for Gaaga’s appointment, stating, “Larry’s extensive experience, deep understanding of local music scenes, and unwavering passion for nurturing talent are valuable additions to the gamma family. He will enhance our market presence and drive significant growth in Africa and beyond.”

Gaaga’s main responsibilities will include providing strategic direction for long-term success, boosting revenue growth, and expanding market reach across Africa. He will lead initiatives to support local talent, ensuring their success both within their home countries and on the global stage through collaborations and partnerships.

Naomi Campbell, a prominent figure in the global entertainment community and Special Advisor to gamma, played a pivotal role in bringing Gaaga and the company together. Campbell emphasized, “Artistic brilliance knows no boundaries. Larry’s appointment embodies the spirit of artistic empowerment. I’m delighted to have contributed to bringing his visionary talents to this artist-centered platform.”

In response to his appointment, Larry Gaaga expressed his honor and excitement, stating, “I am honored and excited to take on the role of Vice President/General Manager of Africa. This presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of the entertainment industry across the continent, promoting local talent and showcasing the incredible creativity and diversity of our artists to the world.”

The company’s headquarters are in Los Angeles, with offices in New York, London, Miami, Nashville, Lagos, and Dubai.
