Femi Jr Keeps the Peace & Love Era flowing with new single “Focus” (Review).

The single will just do the job of shining the light on the project, and from there, we will keep up the promotions, and see how it goes.

Sometimes, the hardest place for artists to be is when they need to find answers to the question “what next?”, especially after enjoying a good spell of acclaim from critics and fans. For Femi Jr, one would wonder what next for the raving Hip-Hop NG act whose debut album “Peace and Love” revolves around every synonym for “extraordinary”.

If that seemed like an impending problem, Femi Jr is out taking a bold step to show his sense of direction and coupled with his artistic capabilities, that he has just enough to offer for his undeniably important next steps.

Just three months later, he has released a new single “Focus” with the sought after Fave for a record that he labels as a “shining light” to his current musical era, instead of a ushering in a new one.

This new duet with Fave came naturally too. The beats were tailor made for her and she ate it up. You know how Niphkeyz does his thing with the Afrobeats drums and rhythms, it made it more interesting. Also, I didn’t want to get too serious with my verse, because it’s an easy beat that didn’t need me to be a hard-core person, so it was just a playful one that does the work and fits in into the record.

On “Focus“, cut from similar fabric as Femi Jr’s previous duet with other female singers, however this record is built upon Afro Pop’s hypnotizing drums and grooves unlike the previous record which had RnB influences on core Hip-Hop backgrounds.

Fave controls proceedings, reeling off an emotive verse and hook with the most soulful performance we have seen from her in a while. She clamors for attention and sings on how she is all emotionally invested in the connection with her lover.

Femi Jr, appears in the picture as the lover in question, holding up some sort of lover boy perspective as well in his verse, while carefully moving through the bouncy production revealing his intentions to spend quality time with her, doing those love tingly activities that spices up the connection and brings them even more closer.

Talk about a record where every creative brings their “A game” to the ground, this is definitely one for the mentions. On “Focus“, there are simply no spaces left untouched. From the tight and captivating production by Niphkeyz, to the smooth and soul piercing contribution by Fave, and Femi Jr’s well taken verse that holds the record together, the creativity is evident across the near three minute span record as everybody understood the assignment.

Collaborations are expected to amplify the best of both artists, and on “Focus“, it is more than clear that both acts are at their best. They seemed to unlock an individually brilliant performance from each other, that results in an otherwise record in which no flaw can be spotted out.
