The veteran US-based Afrobeats artiste gears up for his brand new album, arriving this Friday.
Today, if you think about the first sets of African native artistes raised in a different cultural setting beyond the border of the continent, a lot of names come to mind. Artistes like Skepta, NSG, Nonso Amadi, Tion Wayne and more spearhead the movement. African artistes have used the twin influences of their childhood to forge new sonics that explores other worldwide sonics blended and still deeply rooted in the African culture.
Duncan Daniels is a part of these first generation artistes. Duncan Daniels is a Nigerian-US based Afrobeats act. Born in Boston and raised in Nigeria and United Kingdom, Duncan Daniels is an influence of different cultures which has shaped his sound from the beginning of his career which spans over two decades. Duncan Daniels regularly fuses Pop, Rock and Soul elements into the Afrobeats soundscape.
His upcoming album titled “Songs of Limitless Optimism – S.O.L.O” is his sixth studio album since his debut in 2006. The album contains 10 tracks with no guest appearance. Driven continuously by his sole aim of making his art widely accepted in all parts of the world, the title of the project has already found it’s own meaning. He hopes to achieve all of his aims with this project while seeking no guest help.
This album is really something to expect. Duncan Daniels revealed that this body of work has been in the works since the early days of the pandemic. He has had enough time to make necessary changes as well as prepare for a proper roll-out. The lead singles “Obalende” and “The Rhythm” have received positive receptions from avid and potential listeners.
