Cowater so far has been moving with a defined precision he once promised as he dishes out his second single of the year. Earlier in March, he released “Play My Song” which got a considerable success and introduced him to new sects of listeners who became familiar and loved his artistry. He follows that up with his new single “Whore“, released to continue and capitalize on the success of its predecessor.

Plus the release of his new song “Whore“, Cowater has shown that it is becoming a really prominent and easy direction for artists to weave relatable sad and disheartening tales of occurrences on an otherwise groovy, upbeat and significantly “happy” productions. Even as it is becoming a widely adopted creative direction, it just about highlights the state of our mainstream and its requirements.

On “Whore”, Cowater narrates a painful tale of his lover’s illicit sexual affairs that results in so much reflective personal  disappointments and sheds out an essential part of his humanity. Cowater uses evocative lyrics to paint the perfect situation of his feelings carefully bringing it across boards in bits and pieces through the track.

Not only does the songwriting stand out, the production choice is appropriate, the execution and delivery is profound. He keeps it simple and short but also very much relatable. Here, Cowater creates the kind of rare music releases that brings closer interesting themes with mainstream acceptability.

Again, the music is good. Cowater has a formular and he is currently reaping the rewards. On Whore, he’s had another all round creative masterclass. While the upbeat and log drum additions are tempting as they are inserted to cater for its commercial appeal, it won’t be surprising if so many listeners easily get lost in its groovy nature, when the actual essence of the track is squeezed into its narrative.
