Asake has delivered his third studio album, “Lungu Boy”, and amidst a wave of high-quality albums that have dropped recently, it stands out in every way.

On its opening day and week, the album has not only matched but also surpassed many previously set records.
It debuted at #6 on the NG Spotify Albums Chart with just one day of tracking and is expected to rise to #1 after a full week. Over on Audiomack, “Lungu Boy” debuted at the top of the platform’s Top Album Charts.
One of the standout moments on the album is the Wizkid-featured track “MMS,” which recorded the biggest opening day streams on NG Spotify, garnering 870,577 streams. This breaks Wizkid’s previous record of 626,000 streams with “IDG.” Additionally, with first-day album streams, “Lungu Boy” has surpassed Davido’s ” Timeless” (4.91M) by achieving 5.88 million streams, setting a new all-time record.
On the charts, “Lungu Boy” has made a significant impact internationally. It became the first Nigerian album of 2024 to peak at #1 on the UK Apple Charts, marking the third time Asake has debuted at the top of this chart.
In the U.S., the album peaked at #2 on the Apple Charts, joining an elite group of three albums from Nigeria’s “Big 3” artists to achieve such a high ranking.
With these achievements, “Lungu Boy” is solidifying its place as one of the most remarkable albums of the year.
