Alpha P opts for simplicity in a grand style on new single “W” [Review].

Alpha P’s self proclamation of himself as the “leader of the pack” goes more than just a nickname or a brand direction but even deeply much more about who he is and the quality of his talents and overall artistic capabilities.

Rising into stardom back in 2019 and peaking alongside the new generations of artists who rose to prominence within that period of time best known for their genre bending capabilities, Alpha P always embraced his ability to craft records beyond his time and did his best to lead from the front of the movement with his unique sonic materials.

Recording a considerable hit success with “Paloma” on his debut EP titled “King of the Wolves” and follow it up with another EP “Wolves & Mustangs” to show the range of his artistry, Alpha P was primed to take over and win more of the demography to his creativity and sonic world. However, it wasn’t to be with certain undisclosed issues behind the scenes which culminated in nearly two years hiatus with no new personal releases but occasional features.

Now back on the road, and newly signed under the PentHuaze imprint owned by Phyno, it feels like a fresh start from an act revitalized and ready to go again. The first step, usually the biggest (especially when it is a come back ) is the release of his new single titled “W” which features veteran rapper Olamide and seasoned producer London.

W” which signifies “Woman” in this case is opened by smooth guitar licks before the heavy bass drums and familiar kicks now roll in, London sets the pace already with his captivating melodic productions. Alpha P takes first dive with his melodic humming that draws listeners in more and catches their attention bringing the spotlight solely on him for the moment in anticipation of what’s to come.

Alpha P begins by laying bare his intentions of his chest, filling them up in between with so much reassurances enough to make the muse to get lost in his sweet words. He then proceeds smoothly asking her to be his woman, stating that he is ready to build with her. Olamide joins him in the spotlight with much similar confessions of how he’s been swept off his feet and praises to his muse with a readiness to do any length for her.

This is simply one of the most easiest records to digest as a Nigerian listener. The words are quite concise, the concept is simplistic but execution is grand with every credited act easily dropping a masterclass as they will on their day. The record once again reminds us of the beauty of collaborations, and while it’s not one we definitely saw coming, it’s just exactly what we need.

It gets more interesting considering the simplicity of the record. It’s interesting how simple records in their composition still possess such elegant outlook in general, making for not just a great record but one that is highly commercial in this part of the world and beyond. Simple but it execute its theme quite well, and it bears the hallmarks of a good collaboration. Kudos to all acts involved, simply a masterclass without stress.

Just after the release of the single, he announced a new project scheduled for release  this Friday with four new tracks to accompany this single on another EP titled “Welcome To The Pack“. It’s amazing times for the act who has all it takes to get to the top.
