Nigerian film “Black Market” has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathered for a film screening, drawing 51,000 people to Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.
The record-breaking screening brought together thousands of viewers for the Rixel Studios production.
The achievement surpasses the previous benchmark of 43,624 attendees, set in 2015 when “Felix Manalo” was screened at the Philippine Arena in the Philippines.
Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and written by Gimsay and Abdul Tijani-Ahmed, “Black Market” follows five market women involved in a cross-border fuel-smuggling operation. The cast includes Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor, Ibrahim Yekini, Omowunmi Dada, Susan Pwajok and Uzor Arukwe.
