8tch Re-Emerges With Singles Pack, “TORANJITTO”

8tch, versatile music journalist and artist, continues to leave his mark on the Nigerian music scene, both through his writing and his thriving music career, which now spans over five years.

After a break of more than a year, 8tch is set to drop new music, showcasing his bilingual prowess as he seamlessly blends Yoruba and English in his reflective two-pack single, Toranjitto—a title derived from the Japanese word for “transit.”

According to 8tch, the title reflects his current mindset: “I’ve been shedding old layers and uncovering new truths about myself and life.”

One of the tracks, Jesu l’oba—which translates to “Jesus Is King” in Yoruba—sees 8tch deliver a powerful, contemplative trap record. The song celebrates God’s supreme power, as 8tch uses various titles to express the majesty of the Almighty, emphasizing that while life is ever-changing, God remains constant and all-powerful.

Although it’s common for Nigerian artists to create songs acknowledging God’s greatness, for 8tch, this goes beyond tradition. His role as a social commentator shines through in tracks like “9-5 in Lagos” and “Whatchu Saying,” as well as in An Overthinker’s Thoughts, the opening song on his new release. In both difficult and triumphant times, 8tch continues to be a voice for the people, using Hip-hop to capture the fleeting nature of human existence.
