Joeboy began the year with a big announcement, highlighting the start of a new feat in the music industry, one that’s capable of making his name one to remember. The Afrobeats star announced his departure from Mr Eazi’s emPawa to kickstart his label, Young Legend.
In a press release by Warner Music Africa in amplification of their partnership with the Young Legend record label, Joeboy declares that the major reason behind the launch of his record label is to foster a homegrown space that’ll put emerging artists on a global scale, thus the essence of his long term partnership with the distribution company, “I’ve been blessed in my work so far and I want to give back to the artistic community by scouting, nurturing and promoting the next generation of talent. Music today can quickly connect with fans around the world, so it makes sense to work with a global partner that can help me build my artists’ international careers.”
Following his announcement, Joeboy released his first single of the year, Osadebe, a rendition of his successful sonic journey like the veteran Highlife icon, Chief Stephen Ostia Osadebe. He sings, “Sometimes I feel like I’m supernatural but I’m only human… I’m living like Osadebe.”

Moving forward, the young legend rides on the vigour of new beginnings as he releases a two-pack single titled Adenuga x Concerning. Adenuga features fast-rising female artist, Qing Madi.
Before the release, Joeboy and Qingmadi starred in a short film teasing an upcoming collaboration between them. Joeboy takes his creativity up a notch as he co-produced the track with Prestig.
Adenuga exudes a harmonious synergy between two artists who understand the cultural intricacies of Nigerian romance. It tells the story of a lover who would go to any length to please a partner. Joeboy sings, “I”ll give you the world baby” while Qing Madi sings, “Say me I go fight the fight because I get am for body.”
The hopeless romantic troupe continues in Concerning. Produced by Swankil and co-written by Eyiaromi Daniel and Michael Ifeanyi, Concerning is profoundly melodious as the mid-tempo beat flows seamlessly with Joeboy’s mellifluous vocals. He admits to being completely smitten by his muse, woos her relentlessly and implores her to love him back, “I don’t want to feel like I’m chasing wind when I’m chasing you. You got me feeling so gullible…Skin colour Versace. Looking so enticing. Come make you baptise me”
As the young legend, Joeboy trails the path of his ever-growing artistry, the euphonious Adenuga x Concerning proves yet again, his sonic mastery.
